No ministry on the planet is better suited to be successful in this endeavor to bring HOPE to children in despair than that of Freedom Village. And nothing has caused more excitement among the young people presently at Freedom Village than Freedom Ranch/Camp Victory.

Many of our young people who have transformed their lives at Freedom Village ... who have elected to remain and attend the Bible College or work on our staff ... began their drug experiences, lost their purity, or were engulfed in the evils of our day between the ages of 8 and 12. EIGHT and TWELVE. This is the sad reality.

Their personal burden for this age group is not only understandable, but also enormous. And this will translate to the success of our new program: young people who have “been there” will be the ones sharing their stories and warning these younger children, “You don’t want to go there.”

The program will be divided into two main areas: PREVENTION and CORRECTION.
We will break down the age groups and separate the boys and girls. We will offer weeks of “PREVENTION” — a program of warning presented in a straightforward, yet always loving, manner. The counselors will be Freedom Village young people who have “been there.” The program will be designed to present a camp environment, lots of fun, and great activities. But the main purpose and focus will be to get the young attendees to make a commitment to stay pure and stay away from drugs. The program will present the truth about the obstacles these children will face with a major emphasis on prevention.

The “CORRECTION” program will follow along the same general guidelines. Again, it will be Freedom Village young people who will be playing the major roll, with an emphasis on correction. This will be a “scared-straight” type of program. In short, these young ones — who have already started down the path of destruction — will hear from a youth who walked that path ahead of them, landed in destruction and despair, and will plainly tell them what the end of the road looks like.

These preventative/corrective programs will be conducted on alternate weeks, and different components will be added to the program based on the season. It is our plan to run programs eight to nine months of the year at the Camp Victory facility.
